ANXIETY GROUNDING

2020 has been one hell of a year and many of us are finding life stressful right now so I thought I would share some anxiety grounding tips with you.
Grounding comes in steps like the scenes.
We have five scenes and so five ways to ground ourselves if we are nearing an anxiety attack.
For each scene there is a different step;
Touch – think what you can feel around you. Can you feel an air vent? The heat from a heater or the chair beneath you?
Hear – What can you hear? Is someone talking to you trying to calm you down? Can you hear the birds singing? The air conditioner? The tv?
Smell – what can you smell? Flowers? Dinner cooking? Someone’s perfume?
Taste –what was the last thing you ate – can you remember? What did it taste like?
See- what can you see if you focus? Is someone there with you? Where are you? Can you see a picture? Some flowers?
Trying to focus on one or all of these things will help to ground you if you have problems with anxiety. So why not give it a go? Even if you don’t suffer from anxiety maybe you’re just stressed out before exams – you never know, it could really help.
Hearts and kisses
